Women's Issues

Counseling that specializes in Women’s issues is intended to provide women with a safe and empathetic space to discuss issues that are more specific to women. A lot of women today feel that they are being pulled in  a million different directions and are not maintaining positive self care. Counselors that specialize in women’s issues understand that at times women need a different approach to addressing their issues. Women can feel overwhelmed by the responsibility to be the best at all their different roles as mother, wife, professional, sister, and daughter and do not take the time to address struggles or emotions that they maybe feeling. Society and today’s culture impact women’s mental health in ways such as gender socialization,  higher rate of domestic violence, women still making on average lower pay then men, so a single mother who has a full-time job still may find it challenging to pay her bills, making her at a greater risk for becoming overwhelmed with stress, leading to depression and anxiety. Women’s issues counseling includes a broad spectrum of challenges.
